Out of Time
You've heard the quote "there's always tomorrow" but for many people, tomorrow never comes. Did you know that around 60 million people die every year in the world? That's nearly 170,000 deaths per day. So often we make plans for the week when out of nowhere our lives can be over in a heartbeat. You could die in a car crash, be shot, run over, have an aneurism, or simply go into cardiac arrest, etc., as that's now what's become of the "new normal" for people today, especially young ones. If you happen to be one of those people today, would you be ready to meet GOD? If you're not sure, or you "think" you are, below is a tract with a few questions to ask yourself. It's in English on the left, and Spanish on the right.
Think about it like this: GOD is LIFE, as HE is the Creator of life, and sin is whatever separates us from GOD, which occurs when we break HIS law, as we all have broken it at some point as nobody is perfect (see Romans 3:23), so if we're separated from GOD (LIFE) due to sin, then that means death awaits for us (see Romans 6:23), which is why we all need a Savior, and only once in history has there been ONE to fulfill such a role as GOD HIMself in the incarnate image of the SON, EMMANUEL (i.e. JESUS), whose name means "GOD with us". Never once did HE sin (see Hebrews 4:15) which is why HE was our ultimate sacrifice for one and all times (Hebrews 10:12), whereby whosoever believes upon HIM through repentance (see John 3:16 & Acts 3:19) can have everlasting life. Because HE took the stripes, the beatings, and the punishment of death in which we deserved, due to our sinful actions, we can now be healed and set free from the penalty of eternal death (hell fire [see Isaiah 53:5]).
Once you come to repentance in JESUS, it doesn't mean you'll never slip up and sin again, but what it does mean is that you won't make a practice or effort to sin again as you'll have a changed attitude toward sin, and if you do slip up, you confess it to HIM (see 1 John 1:9-10) and ask HIM for forgiveness, and HE will. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 "9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (i.e. catamites), nor abusers of themselves with mankind (= homosexuals), 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." And so it is. GOD's will is not for any to perish, but instead for all to come to repentance (see 2 Peter 3:9). So what are you waiting for? We have a GOD and SAVIOR who loves us, and has blessed us with life, along with so many other things, so how could we not show our love in return? HE died for us, so the least we can do in return is live for HIM. After all, people don't go to hell because GOD didn't want them, but because they didn't want GOD, and what a precious opportunity of eternal life [where there will be no more pain, sadness, or heartache, nor remembrance of evil (see Revelation 21:4)], they will have blown, for the sake of temporary, sinful, pleasure.
JESUS said in Mark 8:36-38, "36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." Imagine if someone came up to you and said "I'll give you a million dollars if I can take your eyes in return." Would you do it? Of course not, because you cherish your eyes and your ability to see. The same concept applies with our ears (hearing), our limbs, our loved ones, our friends, our pets, etc., so why on earth would you throw all of that away, along with your valuable soul (life), for the sake of temporary, sinful, pleasure? Think about a grain of sand on a beach, and how that in a way represents our current life now, and then compare it to all the sand on the beach, and all the sand in the entire world, and even then, that still doesn't compare to eternity because eternity has no end unlike sand. Again, don't blow your eternity for the sake of temporary, sinful, pleasure; it's just not worth it, and no amount of pride within yourself will be able to save you either on judgment day.

Consider love and think about how much it hurts to love someone, and to do so much for someone, only for them not to love you in return and to cheat on you. It's beyond hurtful, so you can only imagine how our HEAVENLY FATHER must feel, after all the many great things HE has done for us, and then for people to turn their backs on HIM the way they have. And some wonder why they're not blessed. Why should they be? They treat GOD like a slot machine, and if they put in enough money (prayers), and pull the handle the right amount of times (say a prayer the right amount of times), that they'll get lucky enough to have everything line up their way. They treat HIM as if HE's some object that just grants wishes or a spare tire they pull out when they need it. They want to call upon HIM when things are bad but the moment everything is back under control, they turn their backs on HIM for sin and the things of this world. People wonder why bad things are allowed to happen, and when a society forsakes GOD for wickedness, you can expect wicked things to occur, as that society has then given satan the keys to their home. GOD warned us in Deuteronomy 28 of everything that would happen to our societies that reject HIM.
1 Peter 5:8 tells us to "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:", and James 4:7 says "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." And so it is. That of course is referring to spiritual attacks and temptation, and though bad things can sometimes still occur to GOD-fearing people, due to evil people who live contrary to GOD, as believers we know that "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s (Romans 14:8).", and we know that to be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD (2 Corinthians 5:8). This is how we can be confident of the hope that we have, and that it's true. Think about all the martyrs throughout history who were faithful unto death, as we're also told to do in Revelation 2:10; no one would give up their life for something that wasn't true, but rather to something that is true because they witnessed the many miracles and wonders that JESUS performed while HE was here in the flesh, and as believers today, we have the gift of the HOLY SPIRIT to lead, guide, and direct us, in our daily lives, and is what convicts us of all wrongs, and allows us to see the wonderful works of GOD in our lives. Think about morality, if GOD didn't exist, then morality would be subjective, which means that if you're a witness to a cold-blooded act such as a murder, then that shouldn't bother you, but instead it does, just as it does anyone else, regardless of their religion because objective morality is what we all have, but unfortunately when people violate their GOD-given conscience so many times, over and over again, refusing the LIGHT of the HOLY SPIRIT, and instead choose to follow darkness and wickedness (satan), they eventually progress into a devil themselves. That is why it's important to maintain self-control and to watch your thoughts, because they eventually become words, and to watch your words, for they eventually become your actions, and to watch your actions, for they eventually develop into your habits, and to watch your habits, as they eventually develop your character, and to watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. We only have one life in this flesh, and it's our job to use it wisely, whereby we can inherit eternity, whereby we'll never ever have to witness or experience tragedy, sadness, or heartbreak again, as again at that time, GOD shall wipe away all tears from our eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor pain, for the former things will be passed away (Revelation 21:4).
In reality, people never officially die, until after the judgment of GOD takes place [to those who don't inherit the Kingdom of Heaven], instead they only change locations. Below, we'll take a look at Lazarus and the rich man, which JESUS told us about in Luke 16.

Luke 16:19-31
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Note that there's nothing wrong with being rich if you've been blessed with GOD's blessings, and have received them righteously, as Abraham became rich, Joseph, along with David and Solomon, as well as others in Scripture, but when your riches become paramount to you in life, and/or you've received them by robbing others and doing other people wrong, then it becomes hazardous to your soul. 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." And so it is, this is what happens to most [not all] people who are rich, they become so blinded by materialism and wasting money on things that aren't necessary in life and beneficial to their Christian walk, their pride begins to rise and their care for others dissipates, while their care for the things of this world increases. For this reason, it is written in 1 John 2:15-17 "15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." This is why it's important to include GOD in all our financial situations and to pray for HIM to direct our moves, and to always align them accordingly to HIS WORD. JESUS gives us another example in Luke 12:15-21, which says, "15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
Now getting back to this rich man in this chapter, he had everything his mind could think of and desire to have concerning materialism, and never gave any concern to others such as Lazarus. A lot like how some people are today when they see homeless or other poor people.
20 and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Lazarus was very poor and he was treated very badly by this rich man. As you can see, the dogs even had more compassion for him than this rich man did.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
In other words, he was probably given a nice, fancy, funeral service, and you can imagine the speaker of the service saying "he's in a better place now." which obviously isn't true for everyone who dies. In fact most people won't even be in Heaven, as JESUS said in Matthew 7:13-14, "13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
23 and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Though hell and the lake of fire are often thought to be the same by many people, in the English translation of the Bible (KJV), hell has four different meanings (Sheol, Hades, Tartaros, Gehenna), and doesn't always refer to the lake of fire. For more understanding, see our study "What Is Hell?". In this case, with the verse above, this word "hell" is háidēs (Hades) in the Greek manuscripts, and is not the same place as the lake of fire (when all souls will be blotted out of existence), as that doesn't occur until after the Millennium, when JESUS returns. Instead, Hades refers to the bad side of the gulf in the vicinity of Heaven, where the wicked/non-believers await until judgment day. It doesn't have anything to do with a fire filled room where people feel unending physical pain. After all, in order to feel physical pain, you would have to be in a flesh body anyways as a spiritual body doesn't have nerve endings. So why is it the rich man was in torments? Because he realized he had lost everything he had. He no longer had any riches at all and went from high royalty to nothing. There he could see Lazarus on the other side, in Paradise with Abraham, in a good place, filled with comfort, peace, and love, while he, himself, was on the other side with nothing left.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
This is simply a figure of speech, to express the humiliation of the situation he was now in. If this rich man was literally burning in fire, do you really believe he would be able to see anything past the flames? And do you really believe a drop of water would put out the flames? Of course not. Notice he asked for a drop of water to cool his tongue, not his whole body, which should indicate that this is not referring to a firepit room.
Think of a time when you were really embarrassed before, and notice the hot feeling you get within yourself; your heart starts beating fast, you begin to sweat, and if you're Caucasian, then your face turns red. Now place yourself in this rich man's shoes. Imagine going from high royalty, and materialistic riches, to having absolutely nothing, and the very one you mistreated and had no compassion for, who was poor, is now richer than you. You can imagine how embarrassing that would be, especially being naked. As a side note, remember who our LIVING WATER is today, it is GOD/JESUS (see Jeremiah 2:3, John 4:14), and apart from HIM and HIS Kingdom, there is no comfort, rest, happiness or peace (see Isaiah 48:22, Isaiah 57:21).
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
And so it is, you reap what you sow (see Galatians 6:7). Proverbs 28:6 says, "Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich."
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
And so it is, Hades/Sheol is on one side, holding the wicked/non-Christians, whereas Paradise/Heaven is on the other side filled with CHRISTians and the love of GOD.
27 Then he said, I pray (i.e. ask) thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
It doesn't matter how much evidence, proof, or warning you give to some unbelievers, in many cases they will choose to remain in sin, because they love darkness and sin rather than light (see John 3:19). For many, they'll have to find out the hard way, and at that time it will be too late. Again, for this reason, this is why JESUS said narrow is the way unto Heaven, as many will slip into hell and eventually will perish in the lake of fire, with their hand on the doorknob of Heaven, because they rejected to trust and follow JESUS, who is the only way to Heaven (see John 14:6).
So examine your life. Are you truly right with GOD? For what a shame it would be for you to blow your eternity in Heaven, for the sake of temporary, sinful, pleasure. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." If you're not living for JESUS, you're living for satan, for you're either of the LIGHT (CHRIST), or you're of the darkness (satan). Hebrews 10:31 says "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." For this reason, JESUS tells us in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (i.e. materialism).", and in Matthew 7:21-23 "21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Who takes first place in your life? GOD/JESUS or the world/materialism? Which has the paramount spot?
"And he (= JESUS) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself (i.e. the fleshly desires), and take up his cross daily, and follow me (Luke 9:23)."

Again, for this reason, this is why JESUS said narrow is the way unto Heaven, as many will slip into hell and eventually will perish in the lake of fire, with their hand on the doorknob of Heaven, because they rejected to trust and follow JESUS, who is the only way to Heaven (see John 14:6).
So examine your life. Are you truly right with GOD? For what a shame it would be for you to blow your eternity in Heaven, for the sake of temporary, sinful, pleasure. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." If you're not living for JESUS, you're living for satan, for you're either of the LIGHT (CHRIST), or you're of the darkness (satan). Hebrews 10:31 says "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." For this reason, JESUS tells us in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (i.e. materialism).", and in Matthew 7:21-23 "21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Who takes first place in your life? GOD/JESUS or the world/materialism? Which has the paramount spot?
"And he (= JESUS) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself (i.e. the fleshly desires), and take up his cross daily, and follow me (Luke 9:23)."
Don't wait until you're out of time. Receive JESUS CHRIST today as your LORD & SAVIOR, and commit your life to HIM. It will be the greatest decision you'll ever make in life.
Ezekiel 3:18-21 "18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. 20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul."
