Important Notice:
Always check out what you read and hear for yourself, using the Bible, asking our HEAVENLY FATHER for wisdom, guidance, and understanding. Never take anyone's word alone, including this website, without first doing your own homework. As Christians, we should be listening to GOD's WORD, not what someone else has to say if it can't be documented. As it's written in 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Please note, the yellow text in our studies is Scripture, whereas the white text is our commentary.
Genesis 5
This is the book of the generations of Adam (= אָדָם ʼÂdâm [Strong's H121]). In the day that God created man (= אָדַם ʼâdam, [Strong's H120]), in the likeness of God made he him;
Although some teach the individual man, Adam, was created on an 8th day, while the rest of mankind was created on the sixth day, it appears here in these first two verses that they were both created at the same time/day, which would have been on the sixth day as you can see in Genesis 1.
male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam (= אָדַם ʼâdam, [Strong's H120]), in the day when they were created.
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth (= substituted):
Again, the whole focus of the Old Testament is on the Adamites - Hebrews - Israelites, as CHRIST would eventually come through them, which is why the whole focus of Genesis is on their genealogy and not the rest of mankind. As we addressed in the last chapter, surely if Cain was Adam's biological son, he would have been listed before Seth in this chapter, but as we can see he wasn't. The only reason Abel wasn't listed is because he was murdered before he had an offspring.
and the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
Notice Scripture never said Adam begat daughters before Seth, but rather "after" Seth. So that leaves no room for Cain to have married his sister as some would have you believe.
and all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:
and Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:
and Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:
and Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.
And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:
and Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:
and Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
In other words, Enoch never died but instead was translated. The same way CHRIST would have been in the tomb, and the same way we as believers will be in the end (1 Corinthians 15:51-52), if we're still here 'til CHRIST's second coming. Why was Enoch translated? Because GOD was very pleased with HIM. Hebrews 11:5 says, "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God." Remember, the end (i.e. the time of Revelation) will be just like the beginning, and as we go into the next chapter, we'll see the corruption mentioned due to the influx of the Nephilim, which is the whole purpose of Noah's flood, as they were the fallen ones corrupting the pure pedigree in which CHRIST was to come through. That is why only Noah, his sons, and their wives were saved of their genealogy because they had not intermixed as the rest of the Adamites had. Just as there was a flood in Noah's day, so will there be one in the end times as well, except it won't be a flood of water, but instead a flood of lies and deception (Revelation 12:15) from satan (that old serpent), as he'll be the leader of that one world government system. We can already see the building stages of this today, through the lies from the news media (most effective devil in America) to establish whatever agenda they want, and how they're paving the way for this to officially be carried out through the New World Order (one world government). Notice people are already so distracted and focused on the games/shows/things of this world, to where they're not prepared for what is to come, as most have no care for GOD and studying HIS WORD, studying to shew themselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15).
And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:
and Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
and he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:
and all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.
And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
