Important notice: Always check out what you hear and see for yourself, as it is up to you as a Christian to do your own studying. Never take anyone's word alone, including this website here, without first always checking it out for yourself. As 2 Timothy 2:15 says "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Genesis 28
1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan (= low, flat).
2 Arise, go to Padanaram (= the plain of Syria), to the house of Bethuel (= dweller in GOD) thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughers of Laban (= white) thy mother's brother.
3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.
5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian (i.e. Syrian by habitation), the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughers of Canaan;
7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;
8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;
9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath (= stringed instrument) the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth (= heights), to be his wife.
Here again, Esau is leaving GOD out of the equation. Remember, Ishmael was Abraham's rejected son, who was born from the Egyptian bond woman (Hagar), who was rejected because the entire affair was outside GOD's will. Ishmael was never a part of the promise between GOD, Abraham and Sarah, and as result, he and his mother Hagar were sent away, as commanded by Sarah to Abraham (Genesis 21:9-10). As we can see, Esau is still seeking his flesh desires and is only trying to please his earthly father, instead of GOD. Note that this is also the beginning stage of the alliance between the Russians and the Arabians; specifically Russia and Iran (Persia). See also: Ezekiel 38, Ezekiel 39, and Psalm 83.
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
As you can see for yourself in John 1:51, this ladder is symbolic of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, who would eventually come through Jacob, and as we know, HE (CHRIST) is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6).
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south (note the four points make out a cross): and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
As you can clearly see, it states "in thee and in thy seed shall ALL the families of the earth be blessed." Why? Because again it would be through Jacob that CHRIST would eventually come through and HIS sacrifice was for one and all times (Hebrews 10:12), for ALL families (peoples) of the earth. As it's written in Galatians 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." So never let anyone tell you that CHRIST's blood sacrifice was only made out to a particular group of people because to state such would show great ignorance. CHRIST came and died for all of mankind; regardless of ethnicity or race. So again, never let anyone rob you from that truth.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
GOD always takes care of HIS own.
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
I.e. he didn't know GOD was that close until the dream.
17 And he was afraid (= yârêʼ in the Hebrew, which means to fear and morally revere, i.e. to show [reverence] for GOD), and said, How dreadful (= yârêʼ in the Hebrew, and this word "dreadful" in English would probably better be translated as "awesome", as to revere someone [GOD] is to show great admiration) is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
I.e. he anointed the stone.
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel (= house of GOD): but the name of that city was called Luz (= almond tree) at the first.
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
Remember who our bread is today (Matthew 26:26-28)? It is CHRIST. And remember as the bride of CHRIST, our raiment (clothing/fine linen) in heaven, will be made up of our righteous acts for the LORD (Revelation 19:8).
21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth [referring to a a tithe] unto thee.
Remember what GOD's house is today, which is our body, as it is HIS temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). See also Acts 7:48-49.
