Exodus 6
1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
At the end of the last chapter, Moses confronted GOD and wants to know why HE has not yet fulfilled HIS promise that HE told HIM. Moses being impatient, let his present circumstances cause him to lose focus on GOD's plan as GOD clearly told him that HE was going to harden the Pharaoh's heart, whereby HE could perform several signs and miracles in front of these people living in Egypt, which as result would bring them back to HIM, who at this point in time were caught up in idolatry. So as we can see, this is the LORD's response to Moses and everything HE is about to do, all happened for a valuable purpose. Never forget, GOD's timing is perfect and it is with great reason that GOD is gradually leading them out. Again, it's okay to be curious at times, but never ever blame or doubt our HEAVENLY FATHER as HE knows what HE is doing at all times. Keep in mind, faith is like a muscle, if you never use it, it will never grow. Always have faith in GOD.
2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
Notice within these first eight verses, that GOD uses the word "I" eighteen times, which emphasizes that HE is the ONE who brings things to pass and who keeps HIS covenants and promises. Eight in Biblical numerics symbolizes new beginnings and eighteen symbolizes bondage, which GOD will bring HIS people out of.
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty (El Shaddai), but by my name JEHOVAH (YHVH) was I not known (= perceived or understood, yâdaʻ in Hebrew) to them.
4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
And so it is, GOD always works things out for the good of those who love and obey HIM.
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
Exactly why you never have to question GOD as HE never forgets, as HE knows what HE's doing at all times and brings everything to pass in its perfect timing.
6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
If you're ever feeling depressed in life, let this be something that enlightens, motivates, and encourages you to keep going, no matter how bad your present situation may be, as our HEAVENLY FATHER is always by your side, and with HIM being the I AM, HE works and brings things to pass for the good of those who love HIM. Though HE does not send burdens (Jeremiah 23:33-40), HE certainly can take them away from you if you ask in faith, believe, and seek HIM. Always try to stay positive the best you can, keep fighting, and never give up on HIM because HE doesn't give up on you, for again, HE brings things to pass and will never allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bare, without always providing a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13), and that way out is never hurting yourself or ending your life. Just as GOD blesses you in life, strive to be a blessing to HIM too and allow HIM to use you, whereby you can help lead others to HIM as well. Remember, as children of GOD, who obey and seek HIM, we have the victory. Do you claim it?
8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
I.e. they let their present circumstances blind them from the TRUTH and promises of GOD, just as many today do, when they let worldly lies and distractions blind them from the TRUTH of GOD's WORD.
10 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
12 And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?
In other words, Moses is asking GOD how the Pharaoh is going to listen to him, considering his own people won't even listen to him and the fact that the Pharaoh doesn't even believe that HE (GOD) exists. Moses is comparing his lips as if they have a covering over them.
13 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge (= commandment) unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
14 These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben.
15 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon.
16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven (= 137) years.
17 The sons of Gershon; Libni (= white), and Shimi (= famous), according to their families.
18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram (= exalted people), and Izhar (= shining oil), and Hebron (= seat of association), and Uzziel (= strength of GOD): and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three (= 133) years.
19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali (= sick) and Mushi (= yielding): these are the families of Levi according to their generations.
20 And Amram took him Jochebed (YHVH is glory) his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron (perhaps means light bringer or mountainous) and Moses (= drawn from the water): and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven (= 137) years.
21 And the sons of Izhar; Korah (= baldness), and Nepheg (= sprout), and Zichri (= memorable).
22 And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael (= who is what GOD is), and Elzaphan (= whom GOD protects), and Zithri (= protection of YHVH).
23 And Aaron took him Elisheba (= GOD of the oath), daughter of Amminadab (= one of the prince's people), sister of Naashon (= enchanter), to wife; and she bare him Nadab (= liberal), and Abihu (= HE, GOD, is my FATHER), Eleazar (= help of GOD), and Ithamar (= coast of the palm-tree).
24 And the sons of Korah; Assir (= prisoner), and Elkanah (= GOD has obtained), and Abiasaph (= father of gathering): these are the families of the Korhites.
25 And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel (= contempt of GOD) to wife; and she bare him Phinehas (= mouth of a serpent): these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.
26 These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.
27 These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron.
28 And it came to pass on the day when the LORD spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
29 That the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I am the LORD: speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.
Again, we see a shadow of the things to come for what is to happen in these end times, when GOD's elect will be delivered up before the antichrist (satan). That is why Mark 13:11 tells us "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate (i.e. think beforehand): but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost." To refuse the HOLY SPIRIT to speak through you at that time would be to commit the unpardonable (unforgivable) sin. That is why if you happen to be one of GOD's elect, you are to wait until that very moment when GOD takes over you, to speak through you. Stay tuned in for our study "What Is The Unpardonable Sin?" for more information.
30 And Moses said before the LORD, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?
It seems that Moses just can't grasp the fact that when GOD calls you to do something, HE's going to provide a way through. This just goes to show us living today, that it doesn't matter who you are, whether or not you have a way with words or regardless of what condition you may have, GOD can still use you, no matter who you are. It all comes down to whether or not you allow HIM to, and if you're truly HIS child then you will.
