Genesis 4
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain (possession), and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
If you were to read this verse only, without understanding, then it would appear that Adam ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) is Cain's father, but as you will see below, he wasn't. In the Hebrew, this verse reads "... 'iysh 'eth Yᵉhôvâh" which lets us know with the help of GOD. Compare Luke 2:11
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
Notice this word "again". In the Hebrew it means to continue to do a thing. So if Eve just gave birth to Cain and continued and gave birth to Abel, it can only mean one thing, which is, they were twins. They weren't identical twins, they were fraternal twins. Fraternal twins can have two different fathers just as Cain and Abel did. Cain was the offspring of satan, while Abel was the offspring of Adam ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm).
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
The difference between Cain and Abel is that Abel gave his best offering to the LORD, while Cain did not make an effort to bring his best offering to the LORD.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
As we can see from this verse, Cain is not honest. After all, remember who his father is (satan).
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Here Cain murders his own brother and therefore becomes the first murderer. he's nothing but pure evil. Again, this was all part of satan's plan when he seduced Eve; he wanted to prevent CHRIST from being born in the years to come. satan knew that if he could put a stop to Adam's ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) genealogy, that CHRIST couldn't be born, but again as we all know, his plan didn't succeed. Below in this chapter, we will see the next child of Adam ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) and Eve.
9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
Again, Cain is just nothing but pure evil. Here he lied to GOD, carrying out a trait of his father (satan).
10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
This word "blood" in this verse is plural in the Hebrew which lets us know that not only did Abel cry out, but also all of the children in which Abel would have brought forth if he had not been killed. See also Matthew 23:35.
11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
Here Cain is talking about how hard his punishment is like he didn't deserve it. he just murdered his own brother, what does he expect?
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
Think to yourself for a minute and ask yourself this question, where are all these people that are out there who would slay Cain? A lot of churches today can't answer this question because they teach that at this point, the only ones yet created are Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel, and if Abel is now dead, who else would be out there to kill Cain? That's just it, nobody would be. So that is why it is so important that we read GOD's WORD with understanding because HIS WORD makes it very clear that these people mentioned in this verse are describing the people from the 6th day creation
(when all races were created).
15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
Here is where GOD set a mark on Cain. This mark is the beginning of the mark of the beast. GOD put this mark on Cain so that no one would kill him and also so that first prophecy mentioned of in Genesis 3:15 could be fulfilled. The reason Cain was allowed to live was to bring forth the kenites. That's why it was written in the last chapter we just read (Genesis 3:15) "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Through satan's seed would come the kenites; the ones who eventually bruised the heel of CHRIST by crucifying HIM (the negative part of GOD's plan), while Eve's seed would eventually bring forth CHRIST; the SAVIOR of the world; through which all can be Saved. CHRIST is the one who will bruise satan's head in the end though. GOD has a plan and a purpose for everything. HE specifically chose which families we would receive before this flesh age (2nd world age) even began based on how we lived in the first world age (the world that then was). GOD is always fair. In order for that first prophecy to be fulfilled though of Genesis 3:15, GOD chose to be born of woman, and by choosing to be born of woman, HE then entered the flesh age which meant HE eventually had to die because as we all know, our flesh bodies don't live forever and HE was the only perfect sacrifice who could save mankind.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
This lets us know where Cain went.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Cain's wife came from the 6th day creation (Genesis 1:26). Where else would his wife have come from? GOD's WORD makes it very clear. Do you listen to GOD's WORD, or man's word? Keep the key of David and know what's going on throughout these first few chapters of Genesis. Know the differences between the seed lines. See also Revelation 3:7.
18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
Pay close attention to the names of Cain's offspring because they are a lot like the ones of Adam
('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) and it's no accident that they're like that. It is like that for a reason so that we can be able to distinguish the differences between the seed lines. Enoch in the Hebrew means dedicated. Irad means fleet. Mehujael means smitten by GOD. Methusael means who is of GOD. Lamech means powerful.
19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
Adah means ornament (beautiful) and Zillah means shade.
20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
Jabal means stream of water.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
Jubal means music.
22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
Tubalcain means brought of Cain. Naamah means loveliness.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
This documents that this is a bloodline of murderers. It continued on all the way to CHRIST's crucifixion and even continues today. Here he's showing his pride by bragging about it.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
This is a statement of boast, from Lamech, showing lack of care for GOD.
25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Here is where this chapter changes over to Adam's ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) genealogy, leading into the fifth chapter. No where will you find Cain listed in Adam's ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) genealogy because again, Cain is not Adam's biological son. Since Cain slew Abel, GOD blessed Adam ('eth-'Hâ'Âdhâm) and Eve with another child, Seth. Seth means compensation, substituted.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
This word "began" (châlal) means to profane. Enos means frail, incurable. As we can see, Enos went in the way of Cain, as far as partaking in idolatry. As we continue on throughout the next few chapters, we will see how satan continues to target those of the Adamic race in attempt to prevent CHRIST from being born.
