Important notice: Always check out what you hear and see for yourself, as it is up to you as a Christian to do your own studying. Never take anyone's word alone, including this website here, without first always checking it out for yourself. As 2 Timothy 2:15 says "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Exodus 4
1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
In other words, Moses thinks the people will accuse him of lying to them.
2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod (i.e. a shepherd's staff).
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent (nâchâsh in Hebrew); and Moses fled from before it.
4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
As we know from Revelation 12:9, satan is referred to as the serpent, as he is that son of perdition/antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2), who will establish the one world beast system of the end, and here in this book of Exodus, we see a type of antichrist/serpent (this Pharaoh) who has enslaved these people, and just as GOD's Elect will overcome and trample over satan (the serpent), when they are delivered up before him in these end times, and GOD speaks through them, so is Moses in this book going to overcome and take down this type of antichrist/serpent (Pharaoh) in this land. Remember, all these things of old happened as ensamples for us today (1 Corinthians 10:11), whereby we living in this final generation, could be prepared and ready for the end, to stand against satan's lies and deceptions, when that famine of hearing TRUTH (GOD's WORD) fully sets in (Amos 8:11). So here in this verse, we can see the symbology within this miracle that GOD is showing Moses, as even this very word "caught" in the Hebrew is châzaq, which happens to be the same word used to describe the Pharaoh's heart being hardened in Exodus 9:12. So again, notice the symbolism being used here.
5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
So here we see our FATHER giving Moses a sign, that he can use as proof to the people in Egypt, whereby they will know that GOD has appeared unto him.
6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
When Moses put his hand into his bosom, his hand had leprosy spots all over it. Note that at this time, anyone who had leprosy, wasn't allowed to be anywhere around anyone, and here Moses is supposed to help lead these people out of captivity.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
So as we can see, Moses put his hand back into his bosom and his hand was turned back to normal. Basically what we see here, is that GOD is letting Moses know that HE is able to control the flesh in any way HE chooses, and that with HIM by his side, there is absolutely nothing to worry about, as there is nothing too powerful to overcome. GOD's showing Moses that HE is going to be with him.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
GOD is letting Moses know that if they don't believe him with the first sign, which is his rod turning into a snake and back, then they will believe him after the last sign. Again, as we will see later on, GOD is going to harden Pharaoh's heart (Exodus 9:12), whereby all of HIS miracles and signs will have to be poured out upon the Egyptians, in order to get their and the Pharaoh's attention; this way they will realize how far they have drifted into idolatry, and will hopefully turn back to HIM, as their only GOD.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
When GOD tells you to do something, don't make excuses, just do it, for HE is always by your side which is why you have absolutely no reason to ever fear. You can always count on HIM. GOD clearly wouldn't have chosen Moses if HE didn't think he could be used. GOD always knows what's best and what HE is doing. Trust HIM.
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
This doesn't mean that GOD causes people's hardships, but rather HE is the creator of the people who have had them, as HE is the maker of all people, regardless of who they are. HE has the power to give and take away based on what HE knows is best for us, others, our eternity, and most importantly HIS overall plan, as HIS ways and thoughts are higher and wiser than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Many ungrateful critics today, like to complain and blame GOD for certain things going on across the world, such as people getting disease, birth defects, etc, when most always it is the people who bring it upon themselves and each other, as they do the complete opposite of what GOD tells them to do. GOD doesn't make mistakes but people do, so rather being a spoiled brat and complaining about not having everything you want in life, be thankful for what you do have and the life that GOD gave you, and for the fact that CHRIST (GOD in the flesh), being in every way perfect, came down and endured our hardships, and died for you, having HIS perfect blood shed, whereby you can be forgiven, and have eternal life, if you so choose it. None of us deserve the blessings in which we have today, nor the life we even have, but be thankful that GOD has given you it and that HE has prepared an everlasting eternity for those who love HIM, where there is no more pain, sorrow, or suffering. This flesh life may be tough at times but we serve an awesome GOD who's tougher. You're either for HIM or against HIM, and all those who are against HIM will ultimately be turned into ashes from within and blotted out of existence. So it's your choice on whom you will serve with your life. Our flesh life is short and temporary but eternity is forever. Don't die without CHRIST. As CHRISTians, it doesn't matter what hardships may come our way in life, we're can-do people who can always cut it and get through them, as long as we dwell in CHRIST because we serve the living GOD (YHVH, EL SHADDAI), and in HIM we have victory, and the ultimate victory. Will you take part in it?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Notice we see here a type and preview of what is to eventually come for us as GOD's elect, in these end times, when it's time to be delivered up before the antichrist (satan). That is why Mark 13:11 tells us "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate (i.e. think beforehand): but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost."
13 And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
In other words, Moses is referring to the ONE (MESSIAH/JESUS) in whom GOD will eventually send. As we can see, Moses is taking his mind off of what GOD just told him, which is a perfect example of what NOT to do. When GOD tells and reveals something to you, listen and act upon it. Moses was fearful and evidently wanted an easier way out in his eyes. At this point, you can imagine this would be frustrating to our HEAVENLY FATHER. Always put GOD first and you'll always come out on top. Don't try to think on your own or do things your own way, for when you do so, it brings forth confusion, anxiety, weariness, and will have you going in the absolute wrong direction.
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron (perhaps means light bringer or mountainous) the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
In other words, GOD is letting Moses know that if this is what it takes, then HE will get Aaron to do part of the speaking. Just an F.Y.I (for your information), GOD doesn't need you but HE wants to use you in every way HE can if you're HIS child, so if you ever fall so low to where you're unusable, then HE can always find somebody else if you're not willing to be used and you can be assured it won't be a good feeling for you in the end, to know you gave up on GOD by not trusting in HIM. As we can see though here, our FATHER knows Moses is capable of being used and HE wants to use Moses, and with HIM giving these clear words to Moses, and Moses as result acts hardheaded, letting his own thoughts throw him off and into anxiety, you can imagine GOD would be angry. HE wants us to fully trust and rely on HIM. HE loves us and knows at all times what is best, even if we don't understand how that could be at that present moment. Be useful to GOD and listen to HIM when HE speaks to you and where HE wants you, as HIS plan and ways HE reveals, will always align with HIS WORD.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
GOD is going to tell Moses, by controlling his mouth, what to say to his brother Aaron when he sees him. So in other words, GOD is going to control their mouths in what they are to say, as what we are about to read of in the coming chapters, will not be their words, but GOD's WORDS. And again, we will see this exact example occur in these end times, when it's time for us to be delivered up before the antichrist (satan), and GOD does the speaking for us, through our bodies. Though it will not be us who speaks at that point in time, we must get enough oil (TRUTH) for our lamp (minds) before it's too late, in order to overcome his one world beast system and get that far.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead (i.e. in lieu) of God.
In other words, Aaron is going to be Moses' spokesman while GOD through Moses tells him what to say.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
Remember, a rod symbolizes strength and power and it will be GOD who turns Moses' rod into a serpent, and as we know from Luke 10:19, CHRIST gave us power over satan (the serpent [Revelation 12:9]), and all our enemies. So again, we see the symbology within this.
18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro (a title of Reuel) his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
In other words, the Pharaoh and his army who were out to get Moses when Moses was last there, were now all dead. Once Moses returns, he will be dealing with a new Pharaoh, who does not know who he is. See also: Exodus 2:23.
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
All Moses has at this point is himself, his wife, his sons, their ass, and most importantly GOD HIMself. This is exactly why if you have GOD, you have all that you will ever need, as HE will make a way for you and provide you with what you need, as long as you're willing to work according to HIS plan and trust in HIM. Romans 8:31 says "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?". When GOD is on your side, you'll always come out on top, as in HIM, you have the victory.
21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
Again, GOD is going to harden the Pharaoh's heart, whereby HE can carry out all these signs and miracles before Moses, that way the people in Egypt will turn again unto HIM. GOD always knows what HE's doing, so don't ever doubt HIM. These signs about to be carried out were all types and examples for us living in these end times.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son (in reference to CHRIST, compare Matthew 2:15 and see also Hosea 11:1), even my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
Remember, it is through the children of Israel in which CHRIST HIMself would eventually come through and remember the bloodline of that genealogy had to be perfect in pedigree, which is why GOD saved Noah and his family from the flood, unlike the rest of the adamic, Hebrew race which had intermix with the nephilim (satan's fallen angels). GOD surely isn't going to allow anything to happen to HIS people, in which would disrupt HIS perfect bloodline, so we will see how HE intervenes to protect it, as we already have in many other cases [Genesis 3, Genesis 6, Genesis 38), whereby we have Salvation today because CHRIST was born and became our ultimate sacrifice for one and all times. Ever since the garden of Eden, we have seen satan target this genealogy to try and prevent CHRIST's birth, and GOD most certainly was and is not going to let satan win. GOD always wins and as we will see, HE is going to lead HIS people out of captivity.
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him (i.e. Moses' son. See Genesis 17:14 and look back here at verse 23).
Moses and his family are now on their way to Egypt and have now stopped at a lodging place (inn), and now GOD wants to kill Moses' son. Right now, you might be thinking "what is going on here" and as you will see, Moses has still not done his part in keeping the covenant in which GOD gave to Abraham, his fore-father in Genesis 17:11-14, which reads "And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant." Remember, this was to be an everlasting covenant, carried out throughout each generation until CHRIST's sacrifice on the cross, and yet Moses has forsaken this covenant all this time with GOD, concerning his son. The foreskin represents one of the most carnal parts of a man and is over the male reproductive organ, which is why it involves the covenant made with Abraham; that was a promise that his offspring would be a great multitude of nations (Genesis 17), that would go on to bless the entire world, as CHRIST would eventually come through his genealogy, and indeed it is through CHRIST in which the whole world is blessed, as all who dwell in HIM, will be in HIS eternal Kingdom. Please note, that this circumcision mentioned here was a shadow of the things to come. Though this was required under the old law, our circumcision today, which pertains to both males and females, is of the heart (mind), and we do that by accepting CHRIST into our lives as our LORD and SAVIOR, by becoming a CHRISTian (CHRIST follower) and turning away through repentance, from our flesh and sinful ways. Again, CHRIST became our ultimate sacrifice when HE died for us on the cross and HIS blood was shed for one and all times. We aren't to perform blood ordinances and sacrifices today (Colossians 2:11-17). Keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with a child being circumcised today, as long as it's not aimed for religious purposes, as in blood ordinances and sacrifices, as in doing so with that intention would be a sin. So is this covenant still in effect today? Of course but today it is of the heart (mind), and your sacrifice today is your time you give GOD, following HIM and studying HIS WORD. Again, just study Colossians 2:11-17. So we can see why GOD sought to kill Moses' son because there Moses is on his way to warn about the people's first born and to save and help protect the rest of GOD's children in the land of Egypt and yet he had forsaken GOD's covenant and had not yet done his deed with his own son.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone (i.e. flint), and cut off the foreskin of her son (Why? To save his life), and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
Moses should have already done this to his son when his son was eight days old (Genesis 17:12) but never did, so Zipporah (Moses' wife) stepped in and did it, and so it would make sense that she cast it towards Moses' feet, perhaps out of hostility; hence she said "surely a bloody husband art thou to me".
26 So he (GOD) let him (Moses' son) go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
Those who walk with GOD, always reach their destination concerning GOD's plan.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
Our GOD is I AM, not I was, for HE lives today and forevermore. Just as HE interceded and helped the children of Israel here, so does HE still intercede and help in our lives today, including sometimes with things we don't even realize. How strong is your faith in FATHER? Hopefully pretty strong. Walk close to HIM and trust in HIM everyday, never doubting. For HE loves those that love and obey HIM.

6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
